Stats

Semi 1: Big Sexy sent the former champs packing behind the big play of Nick who was unstoppable with a bum ankle. Although Light's Out fought hard to come back, they weren't a match for the talented sexies

Playoffs, Week 1, Wild

For those of you who missed it, we had a wild week of week one

Game 1: Although we had one of the NASTIEST dunks I've actually ever seen in my life by the volleyball player from Pepperdine (I wish I had it on film, it was from the semi-circle on someone), Dena won handily in the first game.

Dena (46)-------New Squad (35)

JP- 16---------Javier- 12
John-12--------Sam- 10
Cory- 5--------Greg- 4
Woo- 7---------Chris- 2
Albert- 3------Nick- 2
Leon- 2--------Kevin- 3
---------------Mike- 2

Game 2: Things got a bit more interesting. The Crash Unit controlled most of the game and then the former champs made a strong come-back behind the defense of Glory and three-point shooting of difference maker, John VB. They won on a huge shot in the last 10 seconds. It was pandemonium out there.

Light's Out (51)------Crash Unit (50)

John- 11--------------Bruno- 19
Forrest- 11-----------Maddox- 17
Glory- 11-------------Lashaun- 8
Jon VB- 9-------------Danny- 6
Jason- 2
Rodney-2
Kenny- 5

Game 3: Dena gave a lazy first half performance in their second game of the night, and then stormed back to take the lead with less than 10 seconds to play against the Dream Machine. The dramatic finished happened when Mike caught a rebound with three seconds left, both Dena's big men leaped to block the shot, and Mike air-balled it straight to Monty under the basket who put it in at the buzzer to win.

Dream Machine (60)---------Dena (59)

Reggie- 16-----------------JP- 23
Clark- 17------------------John- 14

Week 5 Stats

Game 1: Big Sexy put the clamps on Bomb's away to start off the night. The hired guns beat the undermanned Bombs and locked down your favorite commish. Nick and Stan led the way in scoring and Barry played great defense. Tim scored 20 for the first time this season in the Bombs first loss of the year.

Wk 4 Stats

League Record for scoring set this week:

JP from Dena scored 45

Game 1: New Team picked up a ringer. He caught a dunk on someone's head off the backboard. Actually, I think there were at least 8 dunks between the two teams. This league is getting ridiculous. Playoffs are going to be nasty. JP made the record books with 45. He was unstoppable inside to lead to the big vic.

Dena (90)----------New Squad (53)

JP- 45------------Greg- 22
Jon- 18-----------Javier- 14
Tlump-14----------Chris- 8
Woo- 9------------Jordan- 7
Leon- 4-----------Sam- 2

Game 2: Lights Out got Lit up in the first half and couldn't recover from Bombs Away's attack. They made a run at it in the second half behind Forrest's 18, but it just wasn't enough to stop the smooth Dr. Anderson's drives and Tim's post up game.

Bombs Away (57)-------Lights Out (44)

Corey- 22-------------Forrest 21
Rodney- 14------------John- 9
Tim- 11---------------Mike- 7
Steve- 10-------------Glory- 4
----------------------Brock- 3

Game 3: These two teams always find a way to make it into overtime. Crash Unit pulled it out in another grudge match on 3 huge clutch shots from Maddox. He basically brought them back in it by himself in the last minute They took over in overtime, but overall it was a great, hardplayed game.

Week 3 Stats

Game 1: Big Sexy vs. Dena

Big Sexy was down a few of their mercenaries, but Stan the man put on a show by scoring 37 agaist Dena. Jon G. fought back with 29 strong, but Big Sexy remained in control most of the game despite the better play of Dena. Both teams should be tough down the stretch, and you have to watch out on Dena, because they will dunk on you.

Game 2: The first half, Bomb's away lit it up the Dream Machine zone, but then they got worn down in the second half by the strong play of Monty, Reggie, and the new guy who didn't miss, literally he hit four 3's on us in the second half. Bomb's away pulled through winning by 8

Game 3: The new team had some new additions and almost knocked off the defending champs on another laxidazical performance coming off their championship run. Richards is going to need some pep talks or post-season bonuses to keep his team going. I was impressed by Spearman's squad with the strong play of Javier. They can be really good when they have all their players here.

Renegade Champions

For those of you who didn't make it out last night, the Renegades stole the show from beginning to end. They jumped out to a 16 to 3 lead and were able to hold off Undefeated that fought back, but never could gain control of the gain. They ended up winning by double digits. I'll post the stats later, but I'm in class right now.

Thanks for everyone who participated. We raise over 1,000 for the orphanage in Zambia.

This makes me a little happier since my team lost.

Breath of Heaven Children's Village

Click here to see videos on Zambia Children Village through Awaken Humanity
, www.awaken.org/awaken-humanity

If you are wondering where the money goes for this league, we partner with the Breath of Heaven Children Village in Zambia, Africa. Currently, there are an estimated 15 million orphans from the AIDS epidemic in Sub-Saharan Africa, and this number is expected to increase to 20 million by 2010. This is a serious crisis because many of the community and tribal support networks are not present because close to 40% of the adult population is dying from the disease. Further, Africa has been slow to respond to the disease because of the stigma attached to AIDS. This is a crisis that we have to deal with in our time because children filled with potential are left to the streets, prostitution, and even becoming child soldiers. There are many organizations that are working to redeem this tragic situation, and our league is an attempt to aid their efforts. We are partnerning with Awaken Humanity to provide funds to the children's village in Zambia. It's been a lot of fun competeting with you guys. Obviously, we all want to win, but this league helps us to win at something that is much bigger than basketball.

Wk 1 Playoffs

Two teams went home, and two teams move on. Week one is over. The first game, the Renegades won handily over Big Sexy, who played valiantly despite being undermanned. You could tell they don't like to lose, and rumor has it they could be bringing in some big guns next season. The Renegades seem to be hitting their stride at the right time, and could be tough to beat down the stretch.

In game two, the Dream Machine had control of the game for most of the time until the Crash Unit turned on the pressure in the last 5 minutes, and sweet brown sugar, Danny Hernandez hit a game winner with less than 10 seconds to win 42-41.

Week Five

Well, Fellas, it was a wild week five going into the last week of the season. The second game was the game of the week as the Crash Unit won by one on two free-throws by Kenyon Maddox with no time remaining. Big Sexy was pesky against the Renegades, but their rebel power proved to be too much for the scrappers. Undefeated managed to hold off unshakeable to regain the lead on the strong scoring of T.Y. who led all scorers for the night with 36.

Standings Are:

1. Undefeated 4-1
2. Unshakeable 3-2
2. Renegades 3-2
4. Dream Machine 2-3
4. Crash Unit 2-3
6. Big Sexy 1-4

Next week, the match ups are key- big sexy plays unshakeable, dream machine takes on undefeated, the renegades play crah unit; things are looking pretty competetive for the playoffs coming up after next week.

Stats from this week:

Game 1: Big Sexy vs. Renegades (stats got a little screwed up for this one)

Crazy night, fellas, orphan ball was going nuts. We had dunks, arguments, thefts, elbows, bloody noses, last second buzzer beater heroics, and hard fought battles. Every game is coming down to the wire out there. Please enter the gym prepared.

GAME 1: The Dream Machine vs. Big Sexy
Although the Dream Machine pretty much remained in control the whole game, Big Sexy battled back to tie it with under 10 seconds left. A series of time outs put the Dream Machine in position to throw a lob to the dunk-machine, mister Reggie Williams, but it came up short. Brandon snatched it out of mid air, took a dribble to the about the foul line and banked it in a 65 footer to win the game!
It was pandamonium out there.
